Description We are currently seeking an experienced Part-time Controller to manager our Finance team, located in Seattle, WA. This position is part-time, with a start date of December 2nd. Applicants must be available to work at our Seattle location Monday through Friday, 20 – 24 hours a week. Morning hours are preferred, but for the right person the schedule could be flexible (except for a 1 hour meeting at 11am on Monday morning).

What you’ll do:

You will be responsible for the day to day oversite of accounts payable and reconciliation for the company. Provide ongoing guidance and mentoring to the accounting staff. Ensure our tax operation processes are compliant with existing tax laws and operationalize new laws as they arise. Coordinate closely with our accounting firm on tax return preparation, audit and compliance.

Specifically:

- Oversee all facets of accounts payable and monthly reconciliation process
- Manage staff with integrity, commitment, and dedication
- Analyze, prepare, submit, and audit appropriate tax reports, records and filings
- File monthly, quarterly, and annual Corporate, Payroll, Sales, Excise, Use Tax and B&O returns at a multi-state level
- Evaluate tax accrual accounts and prepared journal entries to correct if necessary
- Prepare data for audits relating to tax matters and develop guidelines and/or policies related to tax compliance
- Manage solutions and/or make suggestions to improve existing processes and systems
- Communication with internal and external clients about policies related to accounts payable and tax information
- Drive and manage projects related to tax issues and reporting throughout life-cycle
- Assist with other corporate projects as assigned

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

- 15 + years of experience in all aspects of accounts payable, tax management and compliance preferably in a multi-state organization
- Strong accounting and analytical abilities
- Solid project management and organization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Capability to manage multiple assignments efficiently while meeting tight deadlines and schedules
- Ability to work independently and as part of a global team
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality with a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy
- Basic knowledge of Federal or State tax statutes and regulations
- Experience partnering with accounting firm
- Solid skills using MS Office
- Advanced excel skills
- Familiarity with project management software
- Experience with Avalara software a plus
- CPA or experience as a Controller preferred
- Associates or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
