Job Description

Our Group’s head office is actively seeking a Senior Vice President, Strategy & Administration to join the Executive management team and drive the group’s sustainable expansion.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Senior Vice President, Strategy & Administration is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations, including development of financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to the growth strategy, and ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in formulating our's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
- Develop financial and tax strategies
- Manage capital request and budgeting processes
- Develop performance measures supporting group's strategic direction
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the Executive management team
- Establish and maintain good relationships with key customers, prospects and suppliers
- Manage the accounting, human resources and IT departments, with the heads of each of these departments reporting to the Senior Vice President
- Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations, including on-site visits
- Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
- Implement operational best practices
- Oversee employee bonus and benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing cost-effective packages
- Supervise all contractual agreements
- Lead all steps of mergers and acquisitions: develop business cases; oversee due diligence; negotiate acquisitions; plan, organize and execute business integration
- Oversee the issuance of financial information; review and report financial results to the CEO
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
- Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
- Arrange for debt and equity financing where needed
- Develop an investment strategy and invest funds in accordance
- Represent the company externally with bankers and other significant stake holders

Skills & Attributes:

- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the international transportation and logistics industry
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a senior-level role with strategic planning and partnering with an executive team
- University degree in Commerce, in Finance or Accounting
- Master's degree in Business Administration or Finance, an asset
- CPA designation, an asset
- Experience working in a growing multinational, with Canadian, American and international subsidiaries; and with knowledge of government financial regulations.
- Experience with contracts, negotiations, and change management.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
- Knowledge of best practices in internal controls
- Knowledge of tax and regulations – how fiscal matters impact structure and operations
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to conduct commercial transactions (mergers and acquisitions)
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
