Bookkeeper with Construction Experience Wanted – Ajax, Ontario Area

Our company is looking for an organized and self-motivated Bookkeeper experienced in the construction industry to join our Team in Ajax. This role is part-time to start and could become full-time position if candidate would like, and as the business grows. This can be discussed during interview process, let us know what works for you! This position will report a Sr. Accountant on staff already and he needs support. Some of what this individual will do, will be trained. We are looking for Open minded person who is willing to support us as we grow and expand operations in Ontario. If you want to work with Great people and enjoy accounting, this is the place for you! Only those chosen for a phone interview will be contacted via email to set up a time. Rate of pay is estimate and will be discussed upon interview and is based on experience too.

Responsibilities include but are not limited too:

- Daily processing of accounting transactions to include preparing monthly financials, job costing, bank reconciliations, payroll, and purchasing.
- Use QuickBooks and excel spreadsheet software used on a daily basis
- Bookkeeping – full cycle (need to close out each month-year promptly) using in-house QuickBooks desktop
- Reconciliation of vendor invoicing for construction industry
- Reporting in Excel – must be able to do pivot tables, macros and complex spreadsheets with ease
- Payroll, AP, AR, Data entry
- Internal and external emails/calls when necessary
- WSIB kept current
- Filing of HST payments
- Financial forecasting

The Ideal Candidate would have:

- A minimum of 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience within in a Construction company (road construction preferred)
- Strong work ethic, professional manner with customers, vendors, staff, and management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and attention to detail is a must
- Independent follow thru on assigned tasks assigned
- Advanced Excel skills – formulas, macros, pivot tables and complex spreadsheet knowledge is a plus
- Able to understand and have experience with construction tender/bidding and invoicing to municipalities and other government vendors
