Senior Hardware Developer – Graphite Switchers

Video Switchers are the core of our’s product line and as a Senior Hardware Developer you’ll be at the core of those Switchers. Whether it’s 4K, 8K, video over fiber, or over 12Gb/s coax, you’ll be part of the vibrant switcher team designing award winning highly respected products.

- Research, design and implement hardware platforms. Perform or contribute to system design, component selection, mechanical/PCB/thermal design, lab verification and new product introduction.
- Generate specifications and design documentation to facilitate new product development with product/project management, software/FPGA design, drafting, regulatory compliance and manufacturing.
- Work with an integrated team including mechanical designers, embedded/application software designers, FPGA designers, system architects, product verification, project management and technical writers.
- Work with external teams including product management, technical support, manufacturing, regulatory compliance and R&D operations.


- Curious by nature, constant learner with broad topic of interest ranging from customer workflow to detailed HW/SW architecture and implementation.
- An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to self-manage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work as part of a team or independently. Equally comfortable contributing as a team member or championing an idea with upper management.
- Keen observational skills and problem-solving intuition, with the ability to seek improvement at all levels of execution. Ability to learn new concepts quickly and find creative solutions to challenging problems.


The core requirements to excel at this role include:

- Excellent hardware design knowledge and experience across a broad range of topics. This includes system architectures, embedded processors, networking, high-speed PCB design, high speed transceivers, memory topologies, FPGA technologies, general circuit principles, power supply design, PLL’s, signal integrity, EMC, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with design and debug tools. This includes schematic capture, PCB layout directives, signal integrity and power simulation, Xilinx and Altera-Intel FPGA design and debugging tools and typical lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, J-BERTs, network analyzers, etc.)
- Ability to accurately estimate and track task and project durations, manage development risks and drive a project towards completion.
- B.S. in Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in hardware development.

And bonus points for these specific skills:

- Expertise in video and audio technologies. This includes digital video standards (SDI, HDMI, Display Port, SMPTE 2110, NDI) and associated audio standards. Experience with image processing algorithms such as format conversion, compression, machine learning, etc.
- Software development knowledge. Which includes embedded Linux development, software languages such as C, C++, Python and scripting languages such as Tcl, Bash and csh.
- Experience managing projects with contractors.
