Description
We are searching for a dedicated, passionate, and talented graphic designer and illustrator with web design experience. This position is entirely remote and is a fixed 12-week contract. This person will contribute to the creation of graphic art to go alongside our digital content on our website and social media to deliver powerful messages to our diverse audience. Redesigning and revamping our website using WordPress will also be a central aspect of this role. This person will also help drive our journey of brand cultivation, marketing, and various campaigns amplifying the content created by our team of journalists. Your work will become part of our initiative to spread awareness about underreported global issues, and you will have the freedom to pitch creative projects you're knowledgeable and passionate about.

Key Responsibilities

- Improve our branding guidelines, including colours, fonts, logo, etc.

-Design social media posts

-Lead and oversee a team of volunteer graphic designers

-Revamp our website using WordPress

-Create digital illustrations for our articles, as well as other engaging visual features

-Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule

-Guide creative direction for the organization as well as brand guidelines

Qualifications

-Strong working knowledge of WordPress and web design, including CSS

-Knowledge of Canva, Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and other graphic design software

-Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, and typography

-Knowledge of Canva, Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and other graphic design software

-Excellent eye for detail

-Passion for social justice, Decolonization, Indigenization, and equity

Eligibility

This position is in conjunction with the Canada Summer Jobs program

-Be between 15 and 30 years of age

-Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred

-Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
