The Behaviour Therapist Assistant (BTA) provides treatment services to individuals with developmental disabilities and Autism who present with complex behavioral needs in their residential home setting. The BTA provides support to the Behaviour Therapist (BT) assisting with the assessment of new clients. The BTA also provides training and coaching to the Behaviour Support Specialists (BSSs) providing coaching, implements behavioural programs, collects, records and analyses data, as well as providing recommendations to the BT regarding program changes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates a current understanding of an individual’s Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) and ability to implement the BSP accurately and consistently.
• Demonstrates a current understanding of an individual’s skill acquisition programs (SAP) and demonstrates the ability to implement the SAPs accurately and consistently.
• Creates high quality Daily Activity Schedules (DAS), designs/modifies behavioural data sheets, designs materials for SAPs and DAS activities and demonstrates proficiency in administering DAS-Q (DAS quality assessment).
• Work and follow direction by the Behaviour Therapist
• Participate in Consultations, case conferences and supervision meetings as required.
• Understands design of Functional Analysis and is able to comment/report behavioural observations from a behaviour analytic perspective.
• Designs basic SAPs (i.e., task analysis, describes teaching strategy, error correction procedures, etc.) that utilize effective teaching strategies based on the principles of ABA.
• Demonstrates proficiency in B-Trak for various functions including inputting behavioural data, creating basic tables, regrouping data, creating charts/graphs, and interpreting basic behavioural
• graphs, inputting skill acquisition data, creating basic tables, regrouping data, creating charts/graphs, and interpreting basic SAP graphs.
• Coaching Behaviour Support Specialists in various significant tasks including Treatment integrity checks and feedback/coaching and mentor.
• Effectively collaborates and communicates with the other members of the behavioural team
• Works well independently and as part of a team, effectively prioritizes tasks to be completed, and completes tasks in a timely manner.
• Preparing and ensuring required document is filed, updated and reported as well as compliant with various internal and external standards.
• Satisfying and completing required training
• Assists individuals’ in their activities of daily living, such as bathing, transferring, toileting and physical assistance.
• Assists and participates in physical, vocational, and recreational activities.
• Transports residents to medical appointments, vocational, recreational, educational activities in the community including grocery shopping, social activities, volunteering, etc.
• Assists individuals with their housekeeping and meal preparation, ensuring a clean and safe residence, and nutrition. Provides information on their nutrition.
• Administers individual’s medication and adhering to the medication administration training and SMG policies and procedures.
• Assists and administers day-to-day finances as required and submitting supporting documents to the Residential Manager in a timely manner and as requested.
• Ensures the safety of all clients and coworkers by performing environmental checks as needed and storing all hazardous objects and substances as required by policies and protocols.
• Implements physical and mechanical interventions as required and only when individual’s safety is at risk and using the least amount of force possible.
• Adheres to established policies and procedures.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
• Minimum 3 years of experience implementing behaviour programming with individuals with complex behaviours
• First-Aid and CPR that is current
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Full G Class Driver’s License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service as required
• Able to work independently as well as part of a professional team
• Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
• Experience completing Behaviour Assessments and implementing Behaviour Support Plans
• Demonstrated strong Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) skills
• Demonstrated ability in implementing the required physical and mechanical interventions
• Demonstrated ability in completing Treatment, Residential, and Procedural documentation with accuracy, clarity, and as designed by policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated effectiveness in coordination and organization
• Demonstrated sound organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
• Maintains professional manner at all times

Part-time hours: 21 per week
