POSITION OVERVIEW
The economist will be responsible for conducting research on the Canadian, US and Global economies.
This position’s primary role will consist of writing notes for senior management and drafting PowerPoint decks and other analysis in support of the Chief Economist’s presentations.
Other responsibilities include contributing towards research reports and providing other departments within the bank with economic analysis.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
-Provide strategic market intelligence on the core missions of the Bank (environment, productivity and growth, diversity, and new businesses) and write reports for senior management.
-Develop PowerPoint decks and other analyses for the Chief Economist’s presentations. These presentations include sectoral and regional economic outlooks and presentations on specific issues affecting small and medium sized enterprises.
-Write notes for senior management on economic issues, such as economic competitiveness, industrial profiles, and economic outlooks.
-Contribute towards drafting research reports on a wide range of economic related topics.
-Work in an Agile environment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
-Master’s degree in economics or other appropriate areas of specialty (at a minimum the candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Economics).
-More than 2 years of experience conducting economic research where writing economic reports and memos intended for a variety of audiences was required.
-Excellent written communication skills in both official languages (English & French)
-Extensive knowledge of Canadian business sectors, industries and economic structures
-Analytical and conceptual thinking competencies
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
-Experience conducting strategic market intelligence is an asset
