We are a Sail Canada & IYT adult teaching centre & boat sharing club situated in the Humber Bay area of Toronto. Currently we have a fantastic opportunity for a bookkeeper / administrative assistant to assist in our business growth working with the general manager. The right individual loves service, executing strategy, and has extensive bookkeeping experience. We seek a person who is innovative, works well in a collaborative environment and enjoys working independently. Applicant must have strong organizational style and a keen eye for detail. Main duties
- Accounting
- Posting accounts payable and generating payments either via EFT or cheque
- Creating invoices and reconciling accounts receivable, including invoicing annual membership renewals, and new memberships
- Managing bank reconciliations and reconciliations of various other accounts such as prepaids, deposits etc. including reconciliation of course registrations between club software, payments received and posting to QuickBooks
- Processing bi-weekly payroll
- Posting journal entries Performing month-end closings
- Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules
- Preparing trial balance
- Work with external accountant to prepare necessary year end analysis and schedules including yearend adjustments
- Administrative / Sales
- Assisting with sailing school applications, including updates to external databases and processing of payments
- Creating website content
- Newsletter creation
- Assisting students with registration for courses
- Assisting with sales of educational programs
- Assisting with inquiries & sales of club memberships
- Digitizing club files and setting up archiving of records.
Relevant Skills and Knowledge
- Basic accounting knowledge, including accounting for a non-profit
- Understanding accounting best practices
- Data entry skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Produce work with a high level of accuracy
- Professionalism and organization skills
- Associates degree or at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience
- Prior experience with Quickbooks
