Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Rilpa Enterprises is a leading
helicopter parts, maintenance and leasing company in the aviation
industry. The company is a family business that has been around for
almost 50 years.

 

General Description of Position

 

Our company is looking to hire a Staff Accountant for a 7 month
contract to be responsible for the general administrative functions of
our office. This individual will be highly organized with the ability
to problem solve and take multiple internal and external stakeholders
into consideration. Duties will involve overseeing all aspects of
accounting for 5 separate legal entities and one joint venture. In
addition to the oversight responsibilities, you will
assist/mentor/train the Accounting department with data entry,
processing, and recording transactions, updating the ledger, assisting
with audits or fact-checking, and reports. You should be organized,
thorough, accurate, and honest with good knowledge of generally
accepted accounting practices (ASPE). The ideal candidate will be able
to show initiative in identifying inefficient procedures and take it
upon themselves to correct these outdated practices.

 

To be a successful hire, you will need to have prior experience in
both accounting and business office administration. You will also need
to be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and
Excel.

 

Description of Job Responsibilities

 

* Supports company operations by maintaining office systems and
supervising staff
* Accounting responsibilities to include preparing and monitoring
payments; preparing monthly aircraft lease invoices;
recording/reconciling flight hours; addressing customer invoice and
payment inquiries; and sorting and filing of all accounting and
aircraft documentation.
* Prepares, monitors and corrects accounting records for handoff to
the year-end accounting firm
* Create and update all administrative documentation for leases,
sales, invoices and various other legal documentation
* Looks for system and process improvements, makes revisions, records
process and communicates/trains staff on updates
* Provides historical reference by defining procedures for retention,
protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.
* Monitors inventory numbers and assists inventory manager in audit
procedures to enhance the reliability of those figures
* Acts as backup document review for certification before invoices
are filed
* Designs and implements office policies by establishing standards
and procedures, measuring results against standards, and making
necessary adjustments.
* Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing monthly
financial trends
* Administering basic legal processes of various lawsuits in Civil
Court
* Applying for and administering government job and training
subsidies
* Performing ad-hoc administrative duties
* Other duties could include working in areas of the company to
provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other areas

 

Technical knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

* Formal Accounting training such as Business Degree, Diploma,
Professional Designation (or a combination of education and
experience)
* Experience with small and medium size enterprise accounting and
finance in a multiple company business
* Experience with asset security (including provincial personal
property registries)
* Previous experience with Quickbooks required. Experience with
Quantum Control software package considered a strong asset.
* Consistent, professional dress and manner.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong computer skills including an intermediate to advanced
knowledge in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
including ability to prepare forms and professional documents
* Good time-management skills.
* Experience with administrative and clerical procedures.
* Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with
various tasks as required.

 

 

Length of Contract: From August 6, 2024 to March 10, 2025
(approximately 7 months)

 

 

Rate of Pay: $40 per hour
