Strong analytical skills
As a graduate student majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University, I have been pursuing academic research related to machine learning and Deep Learning for three years. My master project is implementing and comparing the state-of-art Deep-learning based image semantic segmentation methods. And I submitted a paper to 2020 BMVC conference for the work I did. During my study at McGill, I also took Natural Language Processing courses and did a project implementing LSTM model. Thus, I’m familiar with both computer vision and NPL knowledge.
Now I’m a research assistant aiming at using recent image object detection method to locate objects in images and compare with the results from my master project. I implement all my works using python ( Pytorch, Keras, Tensorflow, OpenCV etc.), which has allowed me to be familiar with AI knowledge and enable me to develop strong coding skill. At the same time, I have been learning algorithm and data structure and practicing sufficiently through online resources on my own. Furthermore, I have been working remotely using SSH through terminal since October last year, thus, I’m familiar with Linus commands, and also Linux(Ubuntu)/Mac/Windows systems.
My major was telecommunication in the first year of my master program and then I changed it to Intelligent system. Thus, most courses I took were related to signal processing and I learned all the knowledge needed for machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing on my own at the same time of finishing my course credit requirement. These experiences have allowed me to develop strong time management and self-supervision skills. My supervisor and educators always say they are impressed by my strong sense of self management and my ability of learning quickly.
I will graduate and finish my research as research assistant in August, and I’m looking for entry-level opportunities to start my career in machine learning industry.
