I am a physical therapist and a Neurophysiology technologist. In addition, I hold an MPH in health management and policies.
I currently work at the American University of Beirut Medical Centre AUBMC.
I have vast experience in treating patients with physical illness. Moreover, I work as an EEG and Sleep technician supervisor. My duties include administrative work in supervisory and technical areas such as recruiting, training and updating performance appraisals for junior technologists. For the last 20 years, I have been working in a variety of health care fields including patient’s care, research projects, sports medicine and administrative work.
First, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation from the Lebanese University. I have practiced my specialty for many years and have gained a lot of experience in treating patients with physical ailments, predominantly in those with a neurological disorder.
I have trained and worked at the Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory, at the Department of Neurology of the American University of Beirut Medical Center for 7 consecutive years. I am an experienced and senior clinical neurophysiology technician. I am capable of performing EEGs, EMGs, and Evoked Potential studies both for outpatients as well as for patients on the wards, intensive care units, and emergency units. I am also trained in performing multimodal intraoperative electrophysiolgical monitoring during surgery on the brain, spinal cord, carotid arteries, epilepsy surgery, and insertion of vagal stimulators.
During my work at AUBMC, I was also involved in several research projects in electrophysiology. I presented my work in international meetings and published original reports in peer-reviewed journals, all documented on my CV.
I am also working, for the past 7 years, as a senior technician and laboratory administrator at the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit of the same medical center. I am the technical director of the laboratory responsible for managing the workflow, assuring safety and satisfaction of patients, as well as maintaining the standards of the studies performed. I am also the technician supervisor running the Sleep Laboratory at the medical center and doing the scoring for the sleep studies. I am also involved in several international research projects pertaining to epilepsy and antiepileptic therapeutics.
During my work at the American University Medical Center, I did not lose time. I was enrolled and completed a Master's Degree in Public Health in Health Management and Policy from the American University of Beirut. This training has allowed me to gain expertise in policymaking and implementation in addition to research design and data analysis.
