I have over 10 years of experience in as a media professional. I worked at the Catholic Radio Waumini as a broadcast journalist for seven years, later at the Seed Institute in 2011 – A Nairobi based NGO where I served for 7 months as a Communications Officer ahead of moving to South Sudan in September 2011 where I implemented three capacity building projects for local radio journalists working for the Catholic Radio Network. I concluded this assignment in June 2014.
While at Radio Waumini I rose to the position of Studio Manager & Head of Technical Department and was awarded twice for excellence in Journalism – in 2007 by UNESCO and in 2009 by the Children Legal Action (CLAN) at the 1st Children Rights Media Awards. In 2008 I received a nomination for the Global Health Media awards.
I have an advanced Diploma in Business English and Diploma in Mass Communication. Other specialized trainings that I have undergone to sharpen my communication, fundraising & administrative skills include; Media Development - Train the Trainer course, Resource Mobilization Training, Radio journalism, Digital audio Production and Information Technology.
I have strong organizational skills, communication skills & experience in drafting program reports and supporting proposal writing & project management processes. I am familiar with Microsoft office suite and exposure in meetings & events organization. At the same time I have acquired the ability to work both independently, as a member of a team, take on a professional attitude, flexible approach and to be responsible. I believe that this, together with my communications background and knowledge makes me a reliable asset to your organization.
