Katherine Rockwell lives in the Amish country of Pennsylvania and is most at home devoting her time and creative energy into wild imaginings, photography, and playing games with her friends all over the country. Nature inspires a large part of everything she writes and she loves showing the beauty of objects others would consider imperfect. She uses this in her writing to help teach important life lessons about how society perceives the flawed and the importance of acceptance.
Single but mother to two spoiled cats, Katherine (Kat for short) enjoys spending her time with her friends and family when she’s not busy brainstorming new ideas that push typical boundaries. She’s not afraid to take on the established forms of writing and push limits creating something new and unique.
Katherine has won several writing awards from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition including a National Silver Medal for her unique nature poetry in 2010. She was most recently featured on the homepage of 2014 Farther Stars Than These with her flash fiction, “Continuum.”
Katherine is a children's and young adult novel author with a focus on taking familiar tales and twisting them into exciting new stories. Kat loves to entertain with stories based heavily in science fiction or with fantasy driven tales of adventure and romance.
Currently, Katherine is working in collaboration with Jami VonBerge, a talented artist, on a children’s picture book titled, “My Mother Is A Dragon!” The delightful tale follows a young dragon as she tries to follow in her mother’s rather large footsteps.
