Attributes that best describes:
I've worked in publishing for over a decade in various editorial, production, and communications roles--as a production editor at the American Institute of Physics (AIP); as a production coordinator and typesetter at the Modern Languages Association (MLA); and as a publisher liaison at an e-book conversion house and then at Barnes & Noble / Nook Media. As a freelancer, I've had the opportunity to continue working with scientific and academic content as part of the freelance editorial team for the Optical Society of America (OSA) and as a freelancer for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston.
What drew me to this field was my love of words. As a writer, it's using them to find the perfect expression of a sensation, psychological state, or thought. As an editor, I love helping others to find the best way to express what they are trying to say.
As a lifelong voracious reader, I have a special insight into the way language works, the way stories are told, and the way ideas are best explained. It's the familiarity a professional pitcher has with the form and movement of a baseball--ingrained through countless hours of experience that has developed both conscious knowledge and intuitive skill.
