I am a non-traditional automated accounting analyst. I root and toil for the 'underdog' to triumph; nothing is not "doable", if it is worth being done for the betterment of the organization or project. I view every process, procedure, or transaction in an internal control/"best practices" context: is it necessary, effective, efficient, and transparent; i.e., can its abuse be monitored, prevented, detected, and/or mitigated (someone else should be aware). I view the 'big picture', while delving into the goal, mission, structure, process, procedure, or transaction. I am accustomed to effecting changes in process, procedures, and attitudes toward those changes. I am very willing to do the research, testing, and implementation of best practices and new processes/procedures. I am completion-oriented and not afraid to work until the project is successfully completed, ideally, on time and budget.
As a systems analyst, I researched, tested, reported, and implemented operating software to monitor and conserve disk space usage. I coordinated an education initiative to educate and change application programmers' usage of disk space. It resulted in a two-year postponement of additional disk device acquisition while increasing computer processing throughput by 20%.
As a programmer analyst, I tested and reported on accounting programs and modules' efficiency and accuracy. As an accounting analyst, I assisted in the changes needed to implement the automated accounting application and served as the end-user troubleshooter (subject matter expert) to liaise with programming staff and management to resolve issues and errors. I studied and learned accounting concepts to pass CPA examination.
As an internal auditor and consultant, I developed and implemented an MS Excel application to monitor and report cash on-hand transactions throughout the school district. It eliminated a multiple year external auditor reported weakness. I developed a multiple variable break-even application to aid administrators in preventing revenue-losing and cost-recovering adult education courses. I developed and helped implement district-wide documentation procedures, which drastically reduced reporting errors and significant lost revenues for the district.
