I wish to apply for the position of Customer Service Representative as advertised on your career site. I am currently working at the President Choice Bank as an inbound Sales Representative, which involved customer relations and Sales. For the past seven years until the 6th of May 2013, I worked without interruption in various departments of a global banking industry. Specifically my work experience has been in the following sections of the Union Bank of Nigeria: product development and marketing, customer service and funds transfer, treasury, treasury operations, internal control/ audit and foreign exchange. The following are a few details of my extensive professional banking experience: as a financial control officer my duties included daily monitoring of five different branches of the Union bank group.
I monitored balance sheets for accuracy – that is, to avoid unbalanced books, to ensure reconciliation of branches’ expenses such that they do not overshoot monthly or weekly expense limits. I also monitored in- and out-of-treasury cash movements, ensured general banking service delivery and carried out a strict monitoring of all regulatory and statutory issues or requirements to ensure compliance with the Union bank group and Central Bank of Nigeria policies. As a product development executive my duties included providing marketing and sales support, the extraction of marketing intelligence report through reviewing of the Harvard Marketing Research Journal and, coordinating product development. Moreover my responsibilities in marketing also involved studying (environmental scanning) of competing banks’ operations and services. As a member of the treasury department I was a Naira Dealer.
This entailed trading in money market security assets and liabilities, rendering investment management services to the treasurer as he or she seeks to select specific investments in Banker Acceptance and Commercial Paper. As a funds transfer/customer service teller my duties were the opening of various types of accounts, paying out and receiving cash, reconciliation of daily cash register, processing of Manager (draft) Cheques and staff salary payments; the processing and paying out of foreign currency and the processing of Money gram, Western union and Bureau de change transactions. My seven years of dedication and excellent work performance was recognised with various commendations, some of which include: Best Control Staff of the Year (2012), Best Product Development Executive of the year (2010), Best Naira Dealer of the Year (2008), Best Customer Service Officer, Best Foreign Exchange Officer and Best Teller of the Year (2007).
