Attributes that best describes:
I have done many things in my short life, started out in retail sales with solid training from Harrods dept store in London teaching me customer service skills par excellence. I moved to advertising where I knew nothing but quickly was given role of production assistant and organised radio, tv and print ads involving all pre and post production - no one holds your hand you just have to learn and learn fast! I was headhunted to run advertising for a large casual/jeans wholesaler and after just 6 months was told I'd be trained as a merchandiser. Soon after I found myself on a flight to Tokyo and so began my career as a fashion buyer/merchandiser. Travel was non-stop and though awesome to begin with after 6 years I decided to reinvent myself. I began with a contract role at Morgan Stanley in London, working for the head of Equity Syndicate and loved the environment, being on a trading floor with the chaos that ensues was a perfect fit for me. I was headhunted to join a small fund managers and from there I moved to Bear Stearns in London working as a Sales Asst for 30 sales guys in Fixed Income, running all the P&L, the expenses, travel, reconciling sales numbers each month, etc. It gave me a hunger for being a salesman myself and my driving ambition was to one day be the number one guy. I did it. It took me 5 years from hiring to be one of the top producers. I was sent to Bear New York to attend the training - MBA intake - programme and excelled despite having not finished college myself. I returned to London and for the next 8 years I continued to perform in the top of the sales team. I was headhunted to join a Japanese bank and spent 5 years there.
In 2015 I decided I wanted to give something back and began volunteering in London but wanted to do something for people in more impoverished areas so I went back to school and trained as an English teacher and flew to Thailand to teach English to primary school children in a small fishing village.
In August 2016 I moved back to the USA; I am American. Since I have returned home I have been stunned at the level of ageism but I know that I can work as hard if not harder than people much younger than me. I am not glued to my mobile for starters! I am not afraid of hard work nor of a challenge, I love technology and consider myself a bit of a geek when it comes to organising. For me it's simple... if Americans can vote in a 74yr old to run the most powerful country on earth then I think I'm worth a chance to show how hard I can work!
