A cinematographer and editor based in Los Angeles, California. He received his B.A. in Cinema and Television Arts from California State Univ. Northridge in 2015 and a M.F.A. in Film and Television from Mount Saint Mary's Univ. in 2017. During his early college years, Herrera discovered his calling as a filmmaker through documenting cultural and social justice events, while at the same time exploring his Chicano roots and overcoming the challenges of being a first generation college student.

As Herrera became involved with grassroots organizations, he grew passionate in capturing groups fighting for social justice on their respective communities. Till this day he often travels to L.A.’s Olvera Street and Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights for inspiration. Through the embrace of his Chicano identity and community involvement, Herrera developed an artistic eye in cinematography, by documenting the spirit of the people and advocating their struggle.

Throughout Herrera’s work, there are unique compositions of life happening. He successfully captures moments within moments, complementing both an explosion of color and symmetry in his framing.

Herrera recently worked post-production on The Xukuru Story (2016) a Brazilian documentary for Compathos TV. As part of the editing team, he was in charge of creating behind-the-scenes content for the documentary’s website. In 2017, Herrera's cinematography was featured in a Portraits of Hopes video.

Currently,developing his first feature length documentary titled La Casita Rosa (2017) set in Veracruz, Mexico.
