As an accredited Risk Management Professional, my PMO expertise has developed by managing large capital infrastructure projects in Oil & Gas and Mineral Resources. My strength is the design of critical controls and a fit-for-purpose program to validate the effectiveness of controls. I would ensure that the interfaces between the Cost Control function and Scheduling, Engineering, Contracts and other teams in the Project Management Office are effective.
At Schlumberger, I played a key role in developing and launching the Integrated Project Management global product line, supporting the corporate goal to re-engineer core competencies. Later, at ConocoPhillips Indonesia, as a Project Controls Manager supporting a $3 billion capital program of Oil & Gas infrastructure, my role was critical to introduce the PMO model, which successfully provided the organizational project capability to support a long-term capital infrastructure program.
More recently at BHP Billiton in Australia, I led multidisciplinary teams to design and implement processes and systems, initially at the central Risk & Assurance function (of the major projects division - $5 billion expenditures on mega greenfield and brownfield projects) and then organization-wide in the Business Controls function. My functional teams identified over $100M cost structure improvements across engineering, program management and construction - this achieved capital efficiency more competitive than the industry peer group.
