With a BSc. (AUC), MSc., and PhD (McGill University) in Chemistry, I have been doing academic research for the most part of my professional life. My general fields of expertise are in analytical/environmental and physical chemistry as they relate to:

• Air pollution due to gases (emitted from fossil fuel use) and solids (e.g., dust),
• Remediation technology (‘green’ material synthesis and testing),
• Nanotechnology (impact of nanoparticles on pollution and climate, and synthesis of materials),
• Climate change research (aerosols.)

Having worked on multidisciplinary projects, I have the ability to research and learn quickly about new fields and techniques with the in-depth knowledge necessary for critical reviewing and/or editing of scientific materials. I have published several scientific research and review articles in peer-reviewed journals.

In addition to my experience in academia, as an environmental consultant, I work on environmental impact assessment studies for various industries (e.g., cement, electricity, gas networks etc.)

My recent focus is on Climate Change related projects to support Egyptian institutions fulfil UNFCCC requirements of compiling Greenhouse Gas emissions. My specific involvement is on preparing training materials to build capacity in the solid waste management sector

I still keep a foot in academia as an adjunct assistant professor teaching undergraduate level Chemistry at the American University in Cairo.
