Strong analytical skills
As a seasoned professional, I can handle pretty much anything in the editing field.
Regarding my background and experience, I have a university degree, and have been writing and editing for over fifteen years (writing largely for the art, and editing to pay the bills), after 20 years of freelance consulting for business and government. I am a member of the Editors’ Association of Canada, and published author of a philosophical adventure novel ('Dreams of the Mighty'). I am currently working on two more manuscripts for publication.
As for editing, my first major job was a thesis in medical research, which is now in book form in the medical library at the University of Ottawa. I have edited scores of undergraduate papers, masters and PhD theses, as well as numerous post-doctoral and faculty studies, papers and articles. The work covers a wide range of disciplines, including Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, Political Science, Advocacy, Human Rights, History, Architecture, Computer Science and Medicine.
Of course, I also edit outside academia. Projects include a book about a key figure in Japanese history, plans for a major global charity, campaigns for heritage and social organizations, a detailed international memoir and cookbook, advertising and promotional material, website documentation and various manuscripts and articles. I have also edited many letters, applications and other documentation for clients whose first language is other than English.
