Attributes that best describes:
After graduating from OCAD with a design degree a door opened (after, admittedly, knocking quite hard) that led into the world of advertising. I was green but keen. My sponge-y brain soaked in everything and had no choice but to learn quickly by working with big brands names like McDonald’s & Coca-Cola.
I lived for insight & strategy - but over time it became salient that I liked kerning better than selling and finding the perfect Pantone rather than the perfect headline.
I decided to switch to graphic design during the tumultuous year of 2008 (despite my very distressed father advising it was a risky time to, well, take a risk). I was naive, fueled by my love of design and insistent I’d be fine. And it turned out I was right.
I believe the tools I gained in advertising has allowed for a fruitful freelance career as I strive for concept-driven work and can produce under pressure. I’m quick, attentive and accessible (yes, I will respond to emails in a timely manner). I also have been told I’m likable - although my 8 month-old niece seems to disagree.
“Design is more of a conversation than a monologue.” In the same spirit as Kelli Anderson’s words, I hope we chat soon!
