Attributes that best describes:
Born and raised in Japan, I came to Canada in the mid 90s, and for the past fifteen years, I have been working in Toronto as a professional graphic designer. My clients include Drake Hotel, Toronto Life Magazine, Art Gallery of York University, Colliers International, and Pizzeria Libretto. Prior to starting my design agency in 2012, I worked at the St. Joseph Media as a Senior Graphic Designer for the Toronto Life Magazine.
My experience at the Toronto Life has given me a solid understanding of the publishing industry and editorial design. Our Art Department and Editorial Team collaborated each month to ensure we convey clear and compelling stories. I was also in charge of producing Toronto Life Magazine’s Annual Guides, which included Eating and Drinking, Wedding, and Real Estate Guide.
As a Lead Graphic Designer for the Drake Hotel, I worked closely with the Hotel Owner and the Director of Cultural Programming to shape and maintain the corporate brand and identity of the Drake. I was responsible for branding, managing, and executing multifaceted design needs of various stakeholders. I oversaw the graphic design operation of hotel, restaurants, special events, live music, and art exhibitions.
My responsibilities also included production schedule management, archive maintenance, ensuring that files are compatible for all platforms (print, web, mobile, email, and TV), researching materials (papers, decals, and banners), getting quotes from vendors, as well as managing and training Junior Graphic Designers and Interns.
